If you have one of those then in a pinch, just use the red & white. That would be the same as hooking an older VCR / DVD player to a tv: The red, white, and yellow connectors. The "preferred" way to get audio from there is seemingly the RCA outputs. It's probably there to help control any digital instruments attached to it.
Just looking over the manual (assuming it's the same device). There's likely a way to pull from the headphone jack. The sanest way would be getting audio from the RCA cables. If this is right - you're looking to send sound from an old multi-track recorder to your computer - then you probably need an audio interface. You won't be able to send sound to your PC. The Boss BR-8 looks like a multi-track recorder? Midi is just data.
I had no problem using it with simpler devices: A Yamaha DD-55C tabletop drum kit and a for-real-from-the-1980s Yamaha SHS-10 portable keyboard. Yes! That looks like the same cheap one I use.
